This human KISS1 ELISA kit employs the quantitative sandwich enzyme immunoassay technique to measure the levels of human KISS1 in multiple samples, including serum, plasma, or tissue homogenates. The enzyme-substrate chromogenic reaction is also used to amplify the signal and quantify the levels of the analyte through the intensity of the colored product. The color intensity positively correlates with the amount of KISS1 bound in the initial step.
KISS1 is quickly processed in serum into smaller but biologically active kisspeptins (KPs), which mainly regulate reproductive functions through its receptor KISS1R in mammals. KISS1/KPs/KISS1R signaling is involved in the onset of puberty and control of the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis. KPs play a role in numerous biological activities, including oocyte maturation, ovulation, spermatogenesis, testicular steroidogenesis, pregnancy, as well as placental migration and invasion. In many human tumors, KISS1 acts as a metastasis-inhibitor gene and KISS1/KISS1R signaling has anti-metastatic and tumor-suppressive roles in various cancers, including ovary, bladder, and colorectal cancers.

功能:Metastasis suppressor protein in malignant melanomas and in some breast cancers. May regulate events downstream of cell-matrix adhesion, perhaps involving cytoskeletal reorganization. Generates a C-terminally amidated peptide, metastin which functions as the endogenous ligand of the G-protein coupled receptor GPR54. Activation of the receptor inhibits cell proliferation and cell migration, key characteristics of tumor metastasis. Kp-10 is a decapeptide derived from the primary translation product, isolated in conditioned medium of first trimester trophoblast. Kp-10, but not other kisspeptins, increased intracellular Ca(2+) levels in isolated first trimester trophoblasts. Kp-10 is a paracrine/endocrine regulator in fine-tuning trophoblast invasion generated by the trophoblast itself. The receptor is also essential for normal gonadotropin-released hormone physiology and for puberty. The hypothalamic KiSS1/GPR54 system is a pivotal factor in central regulation of the gonadotropic axis at puberty and in adulthood.
