GALR2

GALR2 is a gene encoding a protein named galanin receptor 2 (GALR2) in human. The neuropeptide galanin elicits a range of biological effects by interaction with specific G-protein-coupled receptors. Galanin receptors are seven-transmembrane proteins shown to activate a variety of intracellular second-messenger pathways. Diseases associated with GALR2 include Acute Endometritis and Alzheimer Disease. Among its related pathways are Signaling by GPCR and Peptide ligand-binding receptors. Gene Ontology (GO) annotations related to this gene include G protein-coupled receptor activity and galanin receptor activity. An important paralog of this gene is CXCR3.
