Adrenocorticotropic hormone receptor is a protein in humans that is encoded by MC2R gene. The adrenocorticotropic hormone receptor or ACTH receptor also known as the melanocortin receptor 2 or MC2 receptor is a type of melanocortin receptor (type 2) which is specific for ACTH. It is a G-coupled receptor located on the external cell plasma membrane, and plays a role in immune function and glucose metabolism.
